Dear Mulberry,

I’d forgotten about the wire strings from our old piano. I kept wondering about the big thudding sound. Maybe it was a pile driver driving piles into the ground to build a bridge. Soon the big booms were accompanied by one, then two, then three children playing the wire strings. One walked away and another joined. There were still three.

I came to watch as you pounded a mallet on the thickest wires. The deepest notes sounded. Then the bushtit sang. You can hear it here.

Love,
Teacher Michelle
