Dear Mulberry and Oak,

We meet in our Hello Goodbye Yard for hellos. This makes this space extra special. My heart feels warm, and I can’t help but smile when I see you. I want to give all my attention to each dear person I greet. I say hello to the morning before I even arrive. Then, I get to say hello again when I say hello with you.

There’s extra magic in that. Each person, grownup and child, adds their voice and together, we sing to the earth, sun, stones, flowers, beasties, birds, and each other. I feel warm and fuzzy each time hearing you and joining my voice to yours.

You are important. You are special. You are loved and loving. We are important. We are special. We are loved and loving. Yesterday, I realized that I wasn’t holding the space very well for this truth. Today, we began.

The grownups will help, and each day we’ll practice:

  • Being together in the circle during our morning meeting.
  • Letting others think, talk, listen by giving space and silence.
  • Welcoming latecomers.

Love,
Teacher Michelle
