Dear Oak,
Scissors. One was using scissors to cut paper. One was using scissors to cut yarn. At first, they cut and cut and cut and cut. They were able to cut into the yarn but not through the yarn. They tried different scissors. They asked for help. I held the yarn taut between my two hands. That means I was pulling each end of the yarn in different directions with each hand.
They cut and cut, and they cut through the yarn. They kept working on cutting the yarn. They discovered that they could hold one end of their yarn with their foot and pull up on the other end with their hand to make it taut. It worked! They cut through the yarn.
They gave me an end to hold, and put an end under their foot. The yarn was long. Someone else came along. That person enjoyed going under the long piece of yarn and wrapping themselves up in the yarn. In the meantime, our cutter cut pieces of yarn again and again. They eventually moved one end under a rock and kept cutting.
Love,
Teacher Michelle
